The Gaming Technology Compliance Officer is responsible for ensuring that appropriate processes, systems and structures are in place to manage compliance with the Company’s legal and regulatory obligations, in particular regarding online compliance / the online gaming sector.

Key Accountabilities (not necessarily in priority order)

  • Designing and developing internal compliance policies and procedures as well as training programs, in order to ensure our product development and technology services complies with external legislative and regulatory requirements - domestically as well as globally, if applicable;

  • Maintain a solid understanding of regulatory developments internally and externally, in addition to evolving best practice in compliance control; Recognising gaps in existing processes or arising from new regulations and ensuring that the correct remedial actions are put in place to close these gaps;

  • Examining and researching the risk areas across the business and mitigating identified risks ensuring full compliance with all applicable regulations, legislation, company policies and best practices;

  • Driving compliance awareness and encouraging a compliance culture across the business; Educating employees on not only the regulations but also the impact to the organisation if these are not complied with;

  • Advising the Management and staff on compliance issues and regulations - keeping them up to date regarding their obligations under legislation and challenging them when necessary;

  • Conducting regular compliance and risk assessments to make sure the policies and procedures reflect current legal, technical and operational requirements, and that the teams operate within the policies and procedures; 

  • Escalating any significant compliance/non-compliance issues, i.e., irregular activities and/or potential issues in policies or systems to the Management or any other stakeholders; leading investigations and remediation promptly and effectively; Maintaining records of any control activity or violations of regulations;

  • Handling licensing issues and other related compliance matters in existing and future regulated markets;

  • Ensuring that requests from data subjects are dealt with promptly and in compliance with current privacy laws;

  • Delivering detailed reports of compliance, audit programs and respond to external audits; Confidently responding to queries and any investigations from external and internal parties;

  • Ensuring appropriate contingency plans are in place that set guidelines on how to respond to a possible compliance breach;

  • Assisting with reporting requirements to local and overseas regulatory authorities, including those responsible for gambling, marketing, anti-money laundering procedures and data protection;

  • Reviewing marketing materials, presentations and websites to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements;

  • Assisting with the day to day compliance of the Company in all other matters.

Required Skills

  • At least a year or two of experience in the field of regulatory compliance or with the implementation of internal controls

  • A high-level of attention to detail is essential with an ability to prioritise and meet tight deadlines;

  • Understanding of information security concepts and technology;

  • Ability to develop and leverage strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders (managers, clients and regulators) and communicate effectively with all stakeholders;

  • Self-motivated and able to work independently / without supervision;

  • Exceptional organisation and prioritisation skills with the ability to manage a high volume of tasks;

  • Compliance monitoring and / or internal audit experience;

  • Pragmatic approach to the administration of governance and risk;

  • Problem solving / troubleshooting (technical and management);

  • Values compliance and drives it continually;

  • Effective written and verbal communication (procedure documentation and management reporting);

  • Proven ability to establish and maintain a high degree of confidentiality, respect, trust and credibility;

  • Fluency in written and verbal English language.

Good to have

  • Knowledge of cyber-security risks and other information security standards;

  • Working knowledge of industry standards and best practises such as ISO27001, PCI DSS, GDPR and ITIL;

  • Experience in legal practice, compliance, internal control, accounting or auditing;

  • Familiarity with the online gaming industry;

  • Law degree or qualification in Compliance or Data Protection;

  • Proficiency in Mandarin Chinese (简体中文/普通话,或者正體中文/國語);
